1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

KAV: 먼저 이것을 알라. 곧 마지막 날들에 비웃는 자들이 와서 자기들의 정욕을 따라 걸으며

BBE: Saying, Where is the hope of his coming? From the death of the fathers till now everything has gone on as it was from the making of the world.
KAV: 이르되, 그분께서 오신다는 약속이 어디 있느냐? 조상들이 잠든 이래로 모든 것이 창조의 시작 이후에 있던 것 같이 그대로 계속되느니라, 하리니

BBE: But in taking this view they put out of their minds the memory that in the old days there was a heaven, and an earth lifted out of the water and circled by water, by the word of God;
KAV: 그들은 이 사실 즉 [하나님]의 말씀으로 말미암아 하늘들이 옛적부터 있고 또 땅이 물에서 나와 물 가운데 서 있는 것을 일부러 알려 하지 아니하느니라.

KAV: 그것으로 말미암아 그때의 세상은 물의 넘침으로 멸망하였으되

BBE: But the present heaven and the present earth have been kept for destruction by fire, which is waiting for them on the day of the judging and destruction of evil men.
KAV: 지금 있는 하늘들과 땅은 주께서 같은 말씀으로 보관하사 경건치 아니한 사람들의 심판과 멸망의 날에 불사르기 위해 예비해 두셨느니라.

BBE: But, my loved ones, keep in mind this one thing, that with the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years are no more than one day.
KAV: 그러나 사랑하는 자들아, [주]께는 하루가 천 년 같고 천 년이 하루 같다는 이 한 가지 사실에 대하여 무지한 자가 되지 말라.

BBE: The Lord is not slow in keeping his word, as he seems to some, but he is waiting in mercy for you, not desiring the destruction of any, but that all may be turned from their evil ways.
KAV: [주]께서는 자신의 약속에 대해 어떤 사람들이 더디다고 생각하는 것 같이 더디지 아니하시며 오직 우리를 향하여 오래 참으사 아무도 멸망하지 않고 모두 회개에 이르기를 원하시느니라.

BBE: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief; and in that day the heavens will be rolled up with a great noise, and the substance of the earth will be changed by violent heat, and the world and everything in it will be burned up.
KAV: 그러나 [주]의 날이 밤의 도둑같이 오리니 그 날에는 하늘들이 큰 소리와 함께 사라지고 원소들이 뜨거운 열에 녹으며 땅과 그 안에 있는 일들도 불태워지리라.

KAV: [하나님]의 날이 오기를 기다리고 서두르라. 그 날에 하늘들이 불이 붙어 해체되고 원소들도 뜨거운 열로 녹으려니와

KAV: 그럼에도 불구하고 우리는 그분의 약속에 따라 의가 거하는 새 하늘들과 새 땅을 기다리는도다.

BBE: For this reason, my loved ones, as you are looking for these things, take great care that when he comes you may be in peace before him, free from sin and every evil thing.
KAV: 그러므로 사랑하는 자들아, 너희가 이러한 것들을 기다리나니 점도 없고 흠도 없이 화평 중에 그분께 발견되기를 힘쓰라.
